About Lisa
Lisa has been performing solo cabaret shows for the past 20 years. She describes the experience as a “portal to pure joy!”
Having trained with award-winning cabaret artists, musicians, and directors from New York City, Boston, and beyond, Kantor is passionate about the process of learning and growing which has fueled this creative pursuit. Her dedication and thoughtful approach to performance is evident in her “radiant,” “sultry,” and “engaging” live shows.
She has performed in Boston, the Berkshires, Provincetown, and most recently in New York City at Don’t Tell Mama where she debuted her solo show “SHADOWS,” which pays homage to the female singers from the 1940s’ and 1950s’ Golden Era of nightclubs.
In addition to her deep passion for musical expression, Lisa has also performed improvisational theater, storytelling, and her own poetry.
Gearing up to head into the recording studio in New York City, she is in the process of creating her debut album with a host of stellar musicians.
She is also the proud mother of two adult daughters and is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice.
Lisa intends to keep grabbing life by the horns, living life with gusto, and most importantly – sharing the ride!
Song & Spirit
When the spoken word is not enough…
I embrace my songs.
For the music to matter to the audience, it has to matter to me. I choose songs that have a particular resonance for me, including jazz standards, show tunes, and contemporary songs. Each of my songs is an opportunity to remember, to be human, to laugh, to heal, to rejoice.
I embrace the expression of human spirit through music.
I believe in the transformative potential of music. Audiences say that they’ve been moved, they’ve laughed at themselves, they’ve left motivated to pursue their dreams.
I embrace my audience.
As a vocalist, each song is personal and meaningful. I invite my audience on a journey, encouraging them to recognize themselves, and to engage their own memories, emotions and truths.
